Hugo Jucá

Hugo Jucá

Hugo Jucá holds a Master’s in Communication Design from NABA, Milan, and a BA in Graphic Design from Estácio de Sá University, Rio de Janeiro. An integrated designer with a strong focus on motion graphics, video editing, and art direction, Hugo brings extensive experience leading creative campaigns and delivering high-quality visual assets across digital platforms. With a background spanning graphic design, photography, and videography, his approach merges creative execution with strategic thinking. He is passionate about visual storytelling, mentoring junior creatives, and producing design work that is both user-centered and results-driven.

Jonathan Clifford

Jonathan Clifford

Jonathan is a documentary, portrait and travel photographer, who works on a variety of commercial assignments and specialises in food and interiors. With a background in communication design, he is also the creative director for an independent arts journal that explores emerging creative talent and new approaches to visual storytelling.

Pete Rowe

Pete Rowe

Having successfully led design agencies in both the United Kingdom and Australia, Pete has more than 30 years of experience in graphic design. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with global brands, major corporations, government agencies, and small to medium-sized enterprises. As a qualified educator, Pete draws on his extensive industry expertise to enrich the learning experience with practical insights and real-world applications. In addition to his design practice, he is an accomplished professional illustrator and an active member of the Australian Cartoonists Association.

Rob Scholten

Rob Scholten

Robert Scholten is a Melbourne-based freelance illustrator, visual artist, designer, and educator with over 15 years of professional creative practice spanning commercial illustration, branding, large-scale public artworks, and editorial design. He holds a Master of Secondary Education and has taught extensively across VET and tertiary contexts, including Certificate IV and Diploma-level design programs, with a strong focus on industry-aligned practice, conceptual development, and professional workflows. His dual practitioner-educator background allows him to bring current industry knowledge directly into the classroom, supporting authentic, real-world learning outcomes for emerging designers.

Magdalena Jurkowska

Magdalena Jurkowska

Magdalena is a graphic designer and interior architect with 10 years of professional design practice along with academic experience in teaching and research. She has previously held a tutoring role with the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Magdalena holds a doctoral degree in Fine Arts specialising in Interior Architecture. While working in design studios and as a freelancer, she was involved in various design disciplines. Magdalena is a member of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).

Hugo Felix

Hugo Felix

Hugo Felix is a studio, portrait and landscape photographer. His work has been featured in many exhibitions and photographic magazines. He has a large catalogue in Micro Stock Photography and has over 30,000 images available on 10 different sites. Hugo has been teaching photography for a number of years and enjoys sharing his passion and knowledge with students.

Gabriela Ferreira

Gabriela Ferreira

Gabriela is an experienced event, portrait and fashion photographer. Having studied drawing at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon, she is passionate about combining illustration and photography. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Photography in 2009 before going on to achieve a master’s degree in visual arts education.

Lauren Keegan

Lauren Keegan

Lauren Keegan is a graphic designer with over ten years of experience across design studios, in-house teams, and freelance projects. A First Class Honours graduate in Design and Visual Communications from Limerick School of Art & Design – TUS, Lauren has built a dynamic and versatile career in the design industry. Her portfolio spans branding, digital and print design, and environmental graphics, and she has collaborated with clients at both national and international levels. In addition to her industry work, Lauren is passionate about design education and regularly mentors and tutors emerging creatives, helping to shape the next generation of designers.

Steve Shepherd

Steve Shepherd

Stephen has more than 20 years’ teaching experience in the tertiary and professional education sectors across Australia and New Zealand. His areas of expertise include 3D animation, design and filmmaking. Stephen holds a bachelor’s degree in media arts from the Waikato Institute of Technology in New Zealand and has a passion for motion graphics and 3D animation. In his spare time, he creates 3D animated short films on Autodesk Maya for International Film Festivals.

Yamira Castellano

Yamira Castellano

Yamira holds a master's degree in Digital and Visual Media from IE Business School and a Bachelor's in Digital Arts and Sciences from the University of Florida. With over four years of commercial experience as a freelance Graphic Designer, she collaborates with private and corporate clients across Europe and the U.S. from diverse sectors. Yamira specializes in creative visual solutions including marketing collateral, content creation, and product packaging. With a passion for brand aesthetics and innovative design, she consistently pushes the boundaries of creativity to develop the most effective visual strategies.

Bernie Morrow

Bernie Morrow

Bernie has extensive teaching experience and has been with the Academy network since 2004, teaching a range of photography courses, from hobby up to HND level. Bernie works on commissions for artists and commercial projects as well as portraits, still-life & food photography, along with giving group workshops in Photo techniques and Photoshop editing. She combines her passion for hillwalking with photographing the wild and mountainous areas of Ireland and the UK.

How were the courses designed?

Our courses have been carefully designed to provide an up-to-date and practical educational experience to ensure that our students are primed to succeed upon graduation. Our comprehensive course materials have been developed in collaboration with leading industry experts.

How can I access the course materials?

Once you have registered on a course, you will receive login details to the student area of our website called the Online Learning Centre. This is where you will be able to access all your course materials which include: practical, instructional videos; written content on a variety of topics tailored to your subject area; and vocationally relevant assignments. All course materials are created by industry experts.

What support will I receive during the course?

When you register for a course, you will be assigned your tutors and be given login details to the student area of our website called the Online Learning Centre. Your supportive tutors will guide you through the learning process and you can contact them directly by email or through the forum which can be accessed through the Online Learning Centre.

If you have any issues or questions about the Online Learning Centre, your payments, your student card or upgrading your course, you can contact Student Services.

Do you offer work placements?
Yes. Graduates of the MSF50725 Diploma of Graphic Design and the Professional Certificate are eligible for an optional work placement with a graphic design company. All placements are made in the Melbourne and Sydney areas. Please note that you need to be eligible to work in Australia.
